How To Find Mentors And Influencers On Twitter
Twitter is chock full of interesting people. Politicians, celebrities, artists, your grandmother…they are just everywhere. But you can get a lot more specific than that. With just a bit of effort you can find mentors and influencers all over Twitter, sharing their ideas and experience, as well as the massive amount of knowledge they have gained over the years. The best part? They come from just about every industry you can imagine.
If you have been looking to find a new mentor or influence from your own niche, there is no better way to do it that through this social platform. It is just a matter of getting started.
Think Of Who You Respect.
This is going to be the fastest and easiest approach to finding mentors. Think of people who already respect for their expertise or actions. Then seek out the Twitter profile (most probably have one) and follow it. You will get regular updates of their feed, and may even be able to interact directly. Just make sure it is the real Twitter account and not an imposter. The amount of followers. The things they say and occasionally a verification by Twitter should clue you in.
Look At Who The People You Follow Are Following.
Looking at the follow lists of people you have already followed is a great way to see who is influencing the person who is influencing you. It may sound a little confusing, but you are ultimately tapping into the same sources of inspiration, and you could discover mentors you may have never known otherwise. You may also want to see who your followers are following.
Join The Community Discussion.
It isn’t always apparent who will end up teaching us in life. Sometimes it is better to focus more on being an active and vocal part of a community, and seeing who it leads you to. Start following various accounts related to your chosen industry or interest. Then start interacting with different people as much as possible.
Use Those Hashtags!
You want to get people to see your profile and interact with you. You also want to find other people and interact with them. So including hashtags in your tweets are just as important as doing searches for hashtags. Make a quick list of relevant hashtags and keywords to your industry. Then search them out to find people, and so see what is more popular. Once you know what people are using, start using those tags in your own tweets while interacting with others. It really will make all the difference in the world.
Don’t Get Discouraged.
Once you find a mentor, don’t be discouraged if they don’t interact with your right away. They are probably getting a whole lot of comments and holding other conversations. Plus, you are a new person to their feed. Try slowly introducing yourself by commenting on tweets, retweeting, and including them in discussions. Eventually you should start to stand out.
