Word of the Decade
We use the word everyday describe the means of finding things such as restaurants, homes, banks, stores and travel deals. It has become such a part of our culture that it flows off the tongue like water.
You might be wondering what word I could possibly be talking about that has such an importance to it. The word is “google.” According to the American Dialect Society, it beat out the terms Twitter, unfriend and blog to become the word of the decade. Twitter became the most popular word of 2009 and the word “unfriend” has now been officially named not only word of the year but it is now an official word according to the Oxford dictionary and describes removing someone as a friend on Facebook.
So there you have it, ‘google’ and ‘twitter’ taking its place as some of the most used words of last year. What will it be this year, care to guess? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
