Facebook Moves from Social Networking to Social Responsibility
Facebook has recently joined forces with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the quest to recover missing children. A link to a new Amber Alert page has been created, allowing Facebooks to fan or request Amber Alert. By linking to this page it will allow users to received up to date news, feeds and alerts regarding missing children across the country. Facebook users can then provide tips or information to law enforcement officials to aid in the search for missing children.
Just as users can request or fan an individual, they will now be able to fan the Amber Alert page. The page is packed with information and updates on missing children. Users will be able to give and receive information about the status of the missing children. If used properly this page has great potential to save lives.
The Amber Alert program that was just announced has received positive reviews from everyone involved in its development and use. Facebook officials report being proud of this new program and further remark that the Amber Alert page is their way of aiding users to participate in the protection of children. Additionally, it provides a very useful tool for law enforcement officials to track and recover missing children more quickly with the help of the Facebook community.
