Things to Consider Before Marketing in Social Media
Today I came across this article on tracking social media marketing and was quite impressed. Some points are just awesome and definitely deserve more attention.
Here are some of my favorite take-aways:
- Quality is what matters. When you focus on quantity, you are getting it wrong. You will see some results but you are definitely missing the overall point of social media networking.
- Hearing does not mean listening. How many people do you ACTUALLY reach when you post a tweet, make a status update or blog post?
- To be a success, you must participate . If a marketer joins a social network and focuses on promoting themselves, product or company, they’ll get an entirely different set of outcomes than those they have goals for.
- An objective is really important. To achieve something, you need to know what exactly you are seeking: this way your activity will be guided. This is why tracking your social media marketing results (like any Internet marketing results) is so essential: you need to know where you are now to know where to move further to achieve results.
- Social media is an investment. You can’t expect fast results because this way you sacrifice on the quality of the connections. It depends on the Roadmap that guides your: Audience > Objectives > Strategy > Tactics > Tools > Measurement. Effective social media marketing is about building trust and relationships which can only be achieved if you invest time.
