Using Social Media to Find the Right Retirement Fund

retireSocial media is a part of everyday life for many people.

Around the world people participate in conversations, these discussions literally span the globe in importance and sharing.

Thanks to the explosive growth and popularity of social media you can find information or opinions on almost anything under the sun. One of these important issues – retirement.

No longer do people rely on just a 401k, in the Great Recession we saw just how flimsy 401ks and certain funds can be. With many people getting ready to retire, these tech savvy people are turning to social media to find out where they should place their funds.

Twitter

For instant information, Twitter is top of the list.

So many people around the world use Twitter for sharing information, news travels faster on Twitter than anywhere else. In minutes you can learn of a hundred different options for retirement that have helped millions.

You can search out accounts of investors, investing companies, and more. These accounts usually are used to keep in touch with investors or to share tips.

Twitter has a new application called Vine which allows people to upload ten second videos. You may be able to find retirement information illustrated in an easy to understand way.

Vine is also used for people in companies to show that they’re real people behind the scenes and sometimes offer customer support.

Facebook

Facebook picks up where Twitter drops the ball.

While it is great to find information quickly, sometimes it is better to get more in depth information. Facebook combines this – you are able to search for information and find it quickly.

Due to the longer nature of posts on Facebook and ability to upload longer videos, this is the place to find deep information.

Millions of people log into Facebook every day. Information can travel almost as quickly as on Twitter.  Investment companies use Facebook to advertise new technology, new investment opportunities, and to reach out to potential investors.

Word of Mouth

The idea behind social media is basically word of mouth networking. Someone shares information which is shared by someone else ad infinitum.

When you go into a store and talk to someone, perhaps give them advice on which product to buy or are asked for your opinion – that’s social networking.

Social networking is just as important offline as online when it comes to retirement funds.

Speak with former co-workers, current co-workers, friends and family members. Ask a banker. Ask anyone and you’ll get different opinions. When you find one product that has several people endorsing it, there’s a good chance that fund might be right for you.

Retirement is important. Using social media to reach out to hundreds, maybe even thousand of people can help you find the perfect fund.

Every circumstance is different and there may be someone that has been where you are today and can help you by pointing out the fund they have used for best results.
